High School
British Columbia Christian Academy follows the goals of the curriculum of British Columbia Ministry of Education, and students in grade 12 sit for the Departmental Examinations necessary for graduations and university / college entrance. However this curriculum is taught from an integrated Christian perspective and the resources authorized or recommended by the Ministry are replaced by, or supplemented with, Christian curricula materials whenever possible.
A Christian approach to curriculum views the world as a place where God, through the power of his Spirit, calls His children to be faithful in living the truth, in reconciling what has been distorted and ruined by sin, and in influencing their neighbour and cultures. It equips students to live lives of response to their Creator and Lord. It structures learning so that students acquire the discernment and abilities necessary for standing in the world as dissenters and reforms, able to offer fundamental critiques of our secular society and its institutions.
Moreover, in a Christian curriculum orientation, the knowledge learned leads students to active service: in relating to others, in developing a Christian lifestyle, and in serving society without compromising their Christian commitment. Students develop their abilities and insights in order to become vibrant Christians as family members, friends, consumers, workers, citizens, and church members. They learn about and experience the rightful place of science and technology, leisure and labor, communications and aesthetics, justice and love. |
